About the Collection

Entitled by William Osgood as the “E-Z Series,” this is a written and photographic record of a series of winter encampments held in Northfield and other locations in Vermont and New Hampshire. The encampments were organized by members of the New England chapter of the 10th Mountain Division Association. Some of the participants included Norwich University’s Mountain and Cold Weather Company, the 10th Mountain Division (Fort Drum), the Army National Guard Mountain Warfare School, and the 172nd Infantry (Mountain).

About William E. Osgood

William Osgood is a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and of Simmons College. He has written books and articles on cold weather clothing and camping. He is a long-time member of the 10th Mountain Division Association. William Osgood served as librarian of Goddard College and lived in Northfield, VT, for many years.  William Osgood died 0n 9 May 2010.
