About Perley D. Baker
Perley D. Baker graduated with the Norwich University class of 1920. He was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. He served in the Army’s gas division from 1918-1919, in the Army Reserve until called to active duty in 1942, and from 1942-1946, in the American and European theaters. Baker joined the faculty of the Norwich University chemistry department in 1920, becoming department head in 1946. He also served as university dean from 1950-1957. Baker retired in 1962. He married Lillian May Lloyd (d. 1977) in 1918. The control and biographical files included with the collection contain additional information on the life and career Perley Dustin Baker.
About the Collection
The collection contains papers, photographs and other materials documenting Perley Baker’s time as a student at Norwich as well as the various positions he held later as a member of the Norwich University faculty, particularly as both a student and teacher of chemistry.
